Virginia Industries for the Blind
The existing 19, 780 SF one-story facility was built in the 1970’s to provide employment to blind and vision impaired persons in light industries. The nature of the industrial work the facility accommodates has changed significantly in recent years. nbj Architecture was retained to reorganize the functionality of the building, and upgrade the facility to current technological standards. On top of an interior renovation, the project scope includes a 4,200 SF new roof, new HVAC and electrical systems, and installation of a life safety system. The facility will also be upgraded to comply with ADA standards and the exterior facades will be refurbished with simulated stucco and new laminated safety windows.
